Who can list their property on the website?

The system was designed for the insurance industry and corporations to list their stolen items.

What happened to the recovered stolen property prior to Prop Cop?

Each year law enforcement recovers billions in stolen property. Since there was no system to connect the stolen property to a person or company, the law enforcement agency was allow to sell your property and kept the proceeds.

Why should stolen items be listed on Prop Cop?

Prop Cop is the first system to integrate information on stolen items from every insurance company and corporation world wide. Prop Cop was designed to assist law enforcement in finding the rightful owners of the stolen property and to connect the stolen property to a police report and possible suspect.

Is the information that we put into the system available to the public?

Not all the information is available. Your company, claims and adjuster information is private and secured. The only information disclosed to the public is the information about the stolen item and a contact number for PropCop.

What items should I list in the website?

You should list everything that was stolen, jewelry, guns, collectibles, art work, electronics, vehicles, boats, etc. All the items from one theft are interconnected. If one item is located, the person searching will be asked "do you want to view the other items stolen with your matched item?" This way we can recover more of your stolen items.

Why should I list an automobile or boat?

  1. If items are stolen out of the vehicle and the vehicle is located, it will prompt the officer to look for the property.
  2. As an insurance company when your insured’s vehicle is located your insured is notified. At times the insurance company is not notified in a timely manner resulting in additional storage fees or the claim is settled instead of returning the vehicle to the insured.
  3. Stolen vehicle information is placed in the FBI’s NCIC program and this information is not available to the public or to other countries. This system will allow people or countries to search the system to find those stolen vehicle.

What happens to the stolen property once it is located by law enforcement?

When law enforcement obtains a match on the stolen property they will be instructed to call Prop Cop for the police report information. Prop Cop will then notify the insurance company or corporation about the return of their property.
